Gobind Sagar is a man-made reservoir situated in Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh. The reservoir on the Sutlej, has been created by the huge hydel dam at Bhakra and has been named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. One of the world's highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam rises nearly 225.5 m above its lowest foundations. Under the supervision of the American dam-builder, Harvey Slocum, work began in the year of 1955 and was completed in 1962. To maintain the level of water, the flow of river Beas was channeliseded to Gobind Sagar by the Beas-Sutlej link which was accompalished in 1976. For More Details
Personally I like the view from Hamirpur-Una border on a hill from where we can see a long strech of Govind sagar Lake. Actually this lake starts in Bilaspur and spreaded to Una district also. This view is on the way to Hamirpur from Chandigarh/Delhi/Una. Lake could also be viewed from Bilaspur city which comes on the way to Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh.

bahut sunder hai yaar. I have only seen Govindsagar from the adjoining hills. Have never been near it actually. Though am dying to go there.
