A silhoutte of Deodar tree near Indian Institute of Advanced studies, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Shimla is one of my favorite places to visit frequently and I have lot of reasons to like this wonderful place. Although I have seen people talking about traffic and other problems in Shimla, but I don't care and it's one of the best hill stations if you are really interested in nature, freshness, nice weather, cleanness, Architecture etc. This photograph is clicked in back side of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, which is also known as Viceregal Lodge.Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : Deodar in Cloudy weather of Shimla  Shimla is one of my favorite places to visit frequently and I have lot of reasons to like this wonderful place. Shshshhhh.... A lonely road near Shimla Mall Road but its all safe !!

Many times I meet people visiting Shimla and at times, few of them say - "What's there in Shimla to visit/see".... "Shimla is too much crowded" .... and I say "What exactly you expect to visit in a place like Shimla" ...

In my opinion, Shimla town has best walks around the Mall road which passes through wonderful deodar forests, very old British Architecture and should I mention about weather & freshness of the town?

This is one of the street in the photograph, which is near to Vidhan Sabha... And the BEST part is that places in Himachal are extremely safe but that doesn't mean that one should be careless about it ! bcoz, exceptions are always there which may happen with anyone in bad times.. But Shimla is one of the favorite travel destination. In case you are planning for Shimla and need more info, catch me at VJ@travellingcamera.com and I am not a travel agent :)

Entry Gate to Legislative Assembly, Himachal Pradesh

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : This building comes when we move from Viceregal Lodge towards Mall Road.Whenever I go to Shimla, I never miss the wonderful walk from Mall Road to Viceregal Lodge and if time allows, we continue till Himachal Pradesh University in Summer-Hill... On this walk, lot of lovely places come and State's Vidhan Sabha is one of the nearest building to Mall Road !!! This whole stretch is very beautiful having road surrounded by huge deodar trees on both sides... Now I remember each turn, shop or building on this way unless things have changed since my last visit... and the better part is that it's not a climb but a downhill with negligible slope.. So we can consider that we walk in planes only... After Viceregal Lodge, the road is narrow and there is dense forest till the point University campus starts.. It's lovely and if timing is correct, one can see the toy train crossing through hills below the road...Legislative Assembly, Himachal Pradesh

Well lit Christ church on Ridge ground, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Every person who visit Shimla has to go to Ridge and Christ Church is one of the interesting structure out there. Its on the rightmost edge of the Ridge when we go towards Lakkar Bazar !! Ridge is a huge ground on top of the biggest water tank in Shimla.. There is an underground market at Ridge which is known as Indira Market but not very popular.. People like to shot at Lakkar Bazar or Mall Road !!! For better options for warm cloths at reasonable prices, don't forget Lower Market below Mall Road, but one needs to do proper bargaining as required in any Hill Station :)

Shimla Town Hall surrounded by colorful lights during evenings !!!

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : Front view of Shimla Town Hall in low light... This has been captured from Mall Road...
In my opinion, its most beautiful building on Mall Road in Shimla. During the evenings this building is well lit with colorful lights !!! During our college times, we used to sit on stairs of this building and used to spend a lot of time there... Its still favorite place of many bachelors and many of them use it as a meeting point on Mall Road :)

Beautiful Himachal

Solang Valley revisited for paragliding again... : Posted by VJ SHARMA at www.travellingcamera.com : Last year one of my friend who was free in April after his financial year in office and wanted to do something adventurous... He work as Development Officer in Palampur which is very near to Billing (World famous place for Paragliding), but he chose to come to Solang to have a Paragliding experience near snow covered hills... Here are few photographs from that trip...Here is first view of green Solang Valley after leaving our car in the parking on road-side... Marhi is another place near Manali to enjoy paragliding and considered as another good place to have different experience on top of snow covered hills...Road from Manali to Solnag Valley is beautiful and having different views of River, Hills, Valley and snow covered hills... There is a military camp across Beas River which loooks amazing and almost everyone dream of a home at that location :-)View from valley are amazing... We also trekked to a hill which is opposite to Solang Valley and we were literally mocing through clouds... It was amazing weather when we reached on the top... Clouds were moving very fast and we were also able to see other gliders near Marhi, which is on very high hills on the way to Rohtang Pass...At Solang Valley, they offer para-glider ride from different places based on height and areal view to the valley... My friend tried the flight from highest point in Solang valley which can be reached after 45 minutes of trek to the hill top on left side of this valley... They asked for 2K and finally we paid 1300 for this ride... It was 15 minute ride in air and we realized that we should have negotiated more for this :-) Also this duration depends upon the air-flow, this is told by experts there ;-)

Main places to visit in Himachal Pradesh : SHIMLA (Summer Capital)

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : Front view of Shimla Town Hall in low light... This has been captured from Mall Road...

Road in the Mountains with Green trees on both the sides :: Looks like a green tunnel.

Travelling Camera on a long Drive in Himachal Pradesh: Mandi : Hamirpur : Sujanpur : Palampur : Dharmshala : Palampur : Baijnath : Biling : Jogindernagar: Posted by VJ on www.travellingcamera.com : A couple of my friends got married in June this year. I along with a few other friends took this opportunity to travel across Himachal on road. Therefore, the long itinerary. The sights en route were countless but here are the shots of some of the most remarkable ones.Road in the Mountains with Green trees on both the sides. Looks like a green tunnel. Road between Hamirpur to Palampur through Sujanpur is pretty good. There is a small strech of 8 kilometers which is comparatively bad but work was going on there... I traveled through this road after 4 years and it has improved a lot... Road has been widened between Hamirpur and Sunjanpur, which has reduced the major pain...Raindrops on the Windshield. The shot was clicked close to Dharamshala, one of the wettest places in India. It receives a lot of rain, second only to Cherrapunji...This is a short-cut for Dharmshala when you move from Palampur through Chamunda.. This particular road was bad but you need not to worry, because main road from Palampur to Dharmshala is amazing... After new cricket stadium in Dharmshala, it's maintained very well...Beautiful Cloud Formation... Palampur Region is simply amazing and these days I am dreaming of a Villa in Palampur Hills, Valleys, and a solitary house at Billing. Bir-Billing, in Kangra district near Baijnath, is regarded as among the best in the world for Paragliding. Billing (2290 m) is the take-off site and Bir (1400 m) is the village at the landing site. The road distance between the two is 14 km. Bir is sheltered by the Dhauladhar mountains and the ridges behind keep rising to 3000 mtrs, 4000 mtrs, 5000 mtrs and one after the other so as pilot can fly at 4000 mtrs and still watch the mountains tower above. Bir is a beautiful village surrounded by tea gardens and spectacular scenery, whereas Billing offers unique opportunities for high altitude and cross country flying and flights of 180 kms have been achieved from here...The house reflected in the side-view mirror...On the way to Jogindernagar from Baijnath... There is a wide road from Baijnath to Jogindernagar.. and very good for leisure drive... Many times I suggest the drive from Palampur to Baijnath and when I saw this road after Baijnath, I am not sure what to say ...

This Photograph has been shot in Himachal Pradesh, when I was going to Palampur from Hamipur ...

A View of Kullu Valley from Naggar Palace

Naggar Castle is situated on the left bank of river Beas at an altitude of 1851m, above sea level. Naggar - an ancient town commands an extensive views, especially of the north west of the valley. Naggar was the former capital of Kullu about 1460 years. It was founded by Raja Visudhpal and continued as a headquarters of the State until the capital was transferred to Sultanpur (Kullu) by Jagat Singh probably by 1460 A.D. Today this ancient and beautiful place is a popular tourist spot in the Kullu valley which has many legends and attractions. The Castle was converted into a rest house about hundred years back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel. This medieval Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D., the hotel over looks the Kullu Valley and apart from the spectacular view and superb location, this has the flavor of authentic western Himalayan architecture. Here a gallery houses the paintings of the Russian artist Nicholas Reorich, Naggar also has three other old shrines. Hotel Castle is an unique medieval stone and wood carvings now a HPTDC heritage hotel. It offers a grand view of the valley: Posted by Ripple (VJ) : ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography :
