A silhoutte of Deodar tree near Indian Institute of Advanced studies, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Shimla is one of my favorite places to visit frequently and I have lot of reasons to like this wonderful place. Although I have seen people talking about traffic and other problems in Shimla, but I don't care and it's one of the best hill stations if you are really interested in nature, freshness, nice weather, cleanness, Architecture etc. This photograph is clicked in back side of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, which is also known as Viceregal Lodge.Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : Deodar in Cloudy weather of Shimla  Shimla is one of my favorite places to visit frequently and I have lot of reasons to like this wonderful place. Shshshhhh.... A lonely road near Shimla Mall Road but its all safe !!

Many times I meet people visiting Shimla and at times, few of them say - "What's there in Shimla to visit/see".... "Shimla is too much crowded" .... and I say "What exactly you expect to visit in a place like Shimla" ...

In my opinion, Shimla town has best walks around the Mall road which passes through wonderful deodar forests, very old British Architecture and should I mention about weather & freshness of the town?

This is one of the street in the photograph, which is near to Vidhan Sabha... And the BEST part is that places in Himachal are extremely safe but that doesn't mean that one should be careless about it ! bcoz, exceptions are always there which may happen with anyone in bad times.. But Shimla is one of the favorite travel destination. In case you are planning for Shimla and need more info, catch me at VJ@travellingcamera.com and I am not a travel agent :)

Is this Monsoon Rain today?

It's very odd when you get a telephone call at 7:00 am on sunday morning ! I was sleeping and was not in a state to talk well.. I asked my friend to have another nap and we shall chat during the day... Just after disconnecting the phone, I heard the sounds outing... Initially I was not very sure if it is rain sound or someone is watering the plants... But soon after listening continuously to this, it was confirmed that it's rain :) Finally time arrived to say Good Morning Sunday - 11:01 am and rain was still in it's mood.. It seems that Sunday will be a rainy day today... But is it beginning of Monsoons as well?

Entry Gate to Legislative Assembly, Himachal Pradesh

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : This building comes when we move from Viceregal Lodge towards Mall Road.Whenever I go to Shimla, I never miss the wonderful walk from Mall Road to Viceregal Lodge and if time allows, we continue till Himachal Pradesh University in Summer-Hill... On this walk, lot of lovely places come and State's Vidhan Sabha is one of the nearest building to Mall Road !!! This whole stretch is very beautiful having road surrounded by huge deodar trees on both sides... Now I remember each turn, shop or building on this way unless things have changed since my last visit... and the better part is that it's not a climb but a downhill with negligible slope.. So we can consider that we walk in planes only... After Viceregal Lodge, the road is narrow and there is dense forest till the point University campus starts.. It's lovely and if timing is correct, one can see the toy train crossing through hills below the road...Legislative Assembly, Himachal Pradesh

Well lit Christ church on Ridge ground, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Every person who visit Shimla has to go to Ridge and Christ Church is one of the interesting structure out there. Its on the rightmost edge of the Ridge when we go towards Lakkar Bazar !! Ridge is a huge ground on top of the biggest water tank in Shimla.. There is an underground market at Ridge which is known as Indira Market but not very popular.. People like to shot at Lakkar Bazar or Mall Road !!! For better options for warm cloths at reasonable prices, don't forget Lower Market below Mall Road, but one needs to do proper bargaining as required in any Hill Station :)

India Gate created of light Bokeh

During one of the Photo-shoots last months I was trying out few things with Bokeh and here is one of the photograph I liked... The up side down U shaped building is India gate with street lights on both the sides... I tried lot many things with various focal length and manual focus !! I guess it would be one of the technique to test quality of Camera Lenses...

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Shimla Night View : Front view of Shimla Town Hall in low light... This has been captured from Mall Road...
In my opinion, its most beautiful building on Mall Road in Shimla. During the evenings this building is well lit with colorful lights !!! During our college times, we used to sit on stairs of this building and used to spend a lot of time there... Its still favorite place of many bachelors and many of them use it as a meeting point on Mall Road :)

A family getting group shot near India Gate Delhi

A Family having group Photograph at India Gate in Delhi !!! I liked the composition of this family having two children, their parents and grand-parents together in a happy pose... India Gate is very popular place for spending evenings in Delhi and in summers crowd increases suddenly as the area around it is airy because of lot of green areas around it. And India Gate area is very less populated as compared to other parts of Delhi !!! There are some huge grounds around India Gate and people come here with prepared dinner and spend their evening and go back late night !! Then time for young groups starts and lot of people can be seen hanging around till 1:00 am...

Beating Retreat Ceremony @ President's House, Delhi, INDIA : 29th January 2011 : Posted by VJ SHARMA on www.travellingcamera.com : Last week one of my friend asked me if I would be interested to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony on 29th Jan at President's House in Delhi. I was very happy to hear about another opportunity to click some photographs of one of the biggest ceremonies in India... She arranged the passes for the event and I went their with my camera although none of us were not sure if cameras are allowed or not. After reaching the place we asked one of the policeman if cameras are allowed or not... He said, everything like Mobile and cameras are allowed... At final security check we were refused to take cameras and one of us had to walk through 1 kilometer to keep the camera in car and come back... Here are few photographs we clicked after completion of the ceremony.. Check Out !!!I have visited India gate many times but this was first time when I saw the tricolors of Indian flag on top of India Gate... These were lights of three colors...Beating Retreat is official end of Republic Day festivities, which is conducted on the evening of 29th Jan; exactly after three days of Republic Day on 26th January... Ceremony is performed by the bands of the three wings of the military: the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force... Beating Retreat ceremony takes place in front of President's House in Delhi which is just in front of India Gate which you see on the photograph above... The venue is Raisina Hills and an adjacent square, Vijay Chowk, flanked by the north and south block of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's Palace) towards the end of Rajpath...President of India is chief guest of Beating Retreat Ceremony... When we reached at the venue, first Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in a black BMW surrounded by approximately 8 other cars of same type... Mr. Prime Minister met with wing chiefs of military and stud there for waiting the chief guest.. After few minutes Mr. Vice President reached at the venue and finally a grand arrival of President of India....Here is a photograph of President's house in Delhi with amazing lighting !!! On arrival of current President of India, the commander asks the unit to give the National Salute, which is followed by the playing of the Indian National Anthem, by the Massed Bands, and at the same time by the unfurling of the Flag of India on the flagpole.... Beating Retreat ceremony was started in the early 1950s when Major Roberts of the Indian Army developed the ceremony of display by the massed bands in which Military Bands, Pipes and Drums Bands, Buglers and Trumpeters from various Army Regiments besides bands Navy and Air Force take part...Indian President's House in Delhi on the day of Beating Retreat Ceremony... This special lighting is done for few days between Republic Day and Beating Retreat which happens on 26th Jan & 29th Jan respectively...
