Manikaran and Malana covered by clouds ... A view from Bijli Mahadev

Wonderful trekking experience of Bijli Mahadev @ Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh : Posted by VJ Sharma at www.travellingcamera.com :Last year when I went to Kullu Manali with my college friend, Bijli-Mahadev is the place I liked the most. Its a wonderful place on hill top from where whole Kullu Valley, Manikaran, Malana, Bhuntar and bunch of Apple Orchids can be seen... Here are few views of Bijli Mahadev...Here is the very first view on reaching Bijli Mahadev... You are seeing a yellow path on right side of the photograph, which is a road connected through some small villages and apple orchids... It connects this Bijli Mahadev with Naggar... This road is not recommended if there are rains or probability of rains...Here is the road I was talking about... It a nice walk from Bijli Mahadev...but don't go far..A view to hills in parallel with clouds...Photograph clicked while coming back towards Bijli Mahadev from that road which connects it with Naggar...Few local people sitting on an edge of Bijli Mahadev which is giving a view of Malana Village and Kasol region...Other side of Bijli Mahadev which has dense forest of Deodars on a steep hill...Friends walking around Bijli Mahadev and enjoying the chilly/fast winds here...Radio Transmission Anteena near Bijli Mahadev Temple...A view of Beas River and Bhuntar Airport from Bijli Mahadev...Closer view to Bhuntar airport from Bijli Mahadev @ Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA...A closer look to Manali Highway and green fields around it... This has been shot from a an edge of Bijli Mahadev...Closer view to Beas River from Bijli Mahadev @ Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA...Another shot of Kullu Valley from Bijli Mahadev... Here we can see Beas river flowing on one side of Bhuntar airport...Eagle flying on top of Kullu but still at lower heights as compared to Bijli Mahadev...See this man standing on the edge @ Bijli Mahacdev, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh... Its very surprising to see these cattles having their food with very easy walk on these steep hills...It was lovely experience under clouds with cool winds and having amazing views on three sides... Views to Kullu Twon, valley, Apple Orchids, Bhuntar Airport, Beas river, Malana, Manikaran and Kasol Region...

A View of Chenab River near Tandi @ Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Travelling Camera on back journey from Famous Shiva Temple @ Trilokinath, Lahaul and Spiti, Himchal Pradesh...This blog PHOTO JOURNEY was started on first July of 2008 and very first post was about Lahaul and Spiti... Here I am going to share some of the photographs of back journey from Trilokinath which is in Lahul district of Himachal Pradesh...Photographs licked near Tandi Bridge... As you can see in above photographs.. Tandi-0 km :)Tandi is a place in Lahaul and Spiti District of Himachal Pradesh, where Chandra River and Bhaga river meets to make Chandrabhaga....The Chandrabhaga River is also known as Chenab which is formed by the confluence of the Chandra and Bhaga rivers at upper Himalyas. It flows through the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir into the plains of the Punjab, forming the boundary between the Rechna and Jech interfluves. It is joined by the Jhelum River at Trimmu and then by the Ravi River Ahmedpur Sial. It then merges with the Sutlej River near Uch Sharif, Pakistan to form the Panjnad or the 'Five Rivers', the fifth being the Beas River which joins the Satluj near Ferozepur, India. For more info CLICK HEREFrom this journey, I am not able to recall any moment when snow covered Himalyas were not visible from our car.. They were everywhere... I think Lahaul and Spiti district is amazing place to chill out.. but it has another side to it.. While we were at Trilokinath, we spent some time with Pandit ji there and we got to know that most the areas disconnects from rest of the world for 7 months in an year... Can you imagine yourself living in an area for 7 months without any access to vehicles n all... Its really tough but they have planned their life according to their local eco-system...While travelling in Lahaul and Spiti, we can see beautiful valleys along with snow capped hills of Himalyan Range... This region is rich in terms of Agriculture... I am not sure about the whole district but area between Manali and Keylong had lot many valleys with agricultural land...Towards north of the state is a snow capped Trans Himalayan district of Himachal Pradesh comprising of two major valleys Lahaul and Spiti. The district is lying on the Hindustan-Tibet border... It is a tribal district with unique Tibetan Buddhist culture...

Good Morning Clouds @ Shrikhand Mahadev, Kullu Himachal Pradesh

Good Morning Clouds @ Shrikhand Mahadev, Kullu Himachal Pradesh: Posted by VJ @ www.travellingcamera.com: During my 5 days of trekking to Shrikhand, Clouds around us played different games ... but we enjoyed most of them :) Most of the times, morning starts with nice sunshine and most of the space is covered by clouds after 1 Hr ... visibility starts decreasing after 8 am.... After 12 noon, these clouds start playing hide and seek and show difference colors on mountains... I was able to capture some details in early morning because its more clear in morning as compared to other day times...It was a great experience to see fast moving clouds from one region of mountains to other... We also experienced views when it was raining on the other end which was approximately 300 meters away from dry area where we were just waiting it to stop :) We were thinking that, its gonna rain on us in next few seconds... Weather on the way was very unpredictable.Clouds moving up from deep areas between these hills... This is very early morning shot and finally they assemble on the top and rain.. finally Sun comes to get your cloths dry... Clouds roaming around hill-tops during evening time... After 5 pm, density of these clouds decreases and most of the region around you isPartial lighting on hills due to clouds... visible to enjoy clear sunset...Clouds, Trek, Shimla, Shrikhand Mahadev, Clouds, Hill Stations, Hills, Snow Covered Hills, green, Sunrise, Sunset, rains,

A Lovely flower on the way to Shrikhand Mahadev...

What all we see after reaching Shrikhand Mhadev @ 19000 feets: Posted by VJ @ Travellingcamera.com Its been two years when I have experienced all these things and still I remember most of the things very clearly. It was really an amazing experience for me and probably the best ...Here are few more photographs of Shrikhand Mahadev...Last day trek gives extremely different experince on snow covered hills with low oxygen level... I was not able to enjoy this beauty while crossing this area... Sometimes low oxygen makes you unconscious..After reaching near Shivlingam, there is only snow and huge rocks around the place. Hard to find out grass, flowers, plants on these hills...There is heavy cloud movement around these hills and sometimes we had to slow down our movement because of visibility issues...Beautiful view of mountains and clouds on trek to Shrikhand MahadevClouds, and sunlight over a mountain on trek to Shrikhand MahadevI say it Cloud Store @ Shrikhand Mahadev :)I say it Cloud Store @ Shrikhand Mahadev :) It was a huge area between hundreds of mountains and we found it completely filled with these clouds in early morning... When we came back, there was no differences and we started guessing about the area below these clouds...Shrikhand Mahadev is one of the adobes of Lord Shiva. People worship the natural, rock-made shiva-lingam which is approx 72 feet high. The view is breathtaking form the top. There are 2 ways to reach to the top, one is from Neermand and another from Arsu side: and we took first one. The trek from jaon Village takes approximately 38 kms one side to reach Shrikhand Peak.Srikhand Mahadev peak, located at an altitude of 5200 meters resembles the Shivling. It is said that Lord Shiva meditated here and the Pandavas used to visit this peak. Devotees of Lord Shiva visit at the top of the mountain where there is a small shrine of Lord Shiva. Devotees trek to the peak during the main pilgrimage season of July and August.I recommend you to carry plenty of water, energy bars, Glucose, walking stick and torch with you. These things make your trek quite comfortable... Don't forget some basic medicines by consulting your doctor by describing about this trek :) I found ist most difficult to climb huge rocks in our final strech to Shrikhand Mahadev...It is believed there are total seven Kailash mountains. The well known Mansarovar Kailash in Tibet, Adi Kailash in Pithoragarh district of Uttrakhand, Amarnath Kailash in J&K, Kinner Kailash in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, Mani Mahesh Kailash in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh,Sri Khand Kailash in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Seventh one is believed to be Boorha Kailash and is yet to be located. A Lovely flower on the way to Shrikhand Mahadev...

I love this flow of small water streams coming down from snow covered hills to meet Shrikhand River

Last year I have been to Shrikhand Mahadev which is an amazing trek through clouds... Here are few photographs of Shrikhand River which comes on the way...Chilling water of Shrikhand River flowing down near Jaon Village of Nirmand Region of Kullu District in Himachal Pradesh...As we start upwards we need to cross multiple villages and local people have installed small dams on this river for irrigation.. Recently Himachal Pradesh government has introduced a plan to install electricity plants on natural water resources and get some percentage cost from government... So there were few Engineers that day to investigate the needs to Jaon Panchayat... We had to cross this river three times on the way... I can't remember this experience.. Check out last photograph and notice the tree helping up to cross the river by acting as a Bridge....All these Photographs have been shot without tripod... So you will notice some shakes in these Photographs....
This is one of the water stream near Thacharu which is also moving towards to river for its contribution...During one of the initial stretches we crossed through an area full of forests and water bodies. During first 30 mins, we were moving on a narrow path alongside Shrikhand river....I love this flow of small water streams coming down from snow covered hills to meet Shrikhand River... Chilling white water streams look amazing with smooth flow on the rocks...Here is the bridge I was talking about... I was very scared about crossing this... coz it was round and frictionless... I was second last to cross this in whole group of 12 people...n I didn't want to go last :-)Posted by VJ on PHOTO JOURNEY @ www.travellingcamera.com : VJ, ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, VJ-Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography :
