Multi-Religious walk around Mcleodganj Streets

Somehow I like this photograph and was not sure what title should be used for this one. I liked the way this Hindu sadhu is interacting these Monks who are going towards Budha Temple at Mcledoganj. This photograph was shot on the road which connects Mcleoganj Town with Bhagsu Waterfalls. Interactive combination of Red and Orange religions made me click this photographs, without spending any time in changing Camera Settings...

Talking to God on first day of New Year (2012) @ Golden Temple, Amritsar, Punjab, India

Here is a boy in conversation with God to discuss the plans to make this year memorable for good things in life. Here is taking holy bath in Sarovar around Golden Temple of Amritsar.Golden Temple at Amritsar was over-crowded on 1st Jan 2012, as many folks from Punjab has come to this place for good beginning of the year and pray God for making 2012 a memorable year for good things in life. Amritsar being a very old city of India looks very scary during such special days, when whole Punjab is on street and there is hardly any space around. This was my third visit to Amritsar and now probably I will think twice to visit this city again. It's not tourist friendly and extremely inconvenient. But reaching at Golden Temple make you forget everything you see outside it.A Very Happy New Year to all of you again !!!

Some unique trends of Old Delhi - Kabootarbazi !!!

Last weekend I visited Jama-Masjid in Old Delhi and also interacted few folks around this place. During the visit I met a very interesting family who also offered me to come on roof-top to have a different view of Old Delhi (Dilli-6). On roof-top, there were approximately 60 pigeons. One of the gentleman also told be about a unique trend of Old Delhi. All these pigeons fly in a group and at times they make a huge groups of around 1000 pigeons. When any of the owner ask his/her group to come back, most of the others also prefer to check at home. During such flights, at times some pigeons plan to join other group and go to other house. In this case original owner loose the right to get that pigeon back. If s/he wants that pigeon back, appropriate money needs to be paid as per breed of that pigeon. And this payment has no guarantee that pigeon will not go to other groups. This thing is religiously followed in Old Delhi region !!!

Lakshmi Pooja on Diwali Day

Lakshmi puja is performed during Diwali which is a very popular festival of India and also known as Festival of lights. According to tradition people would put small oil lamps outside their homes on Diwali and hope Lakshmi will come to bless them.Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped by those who wish to acquire or to preserve wealth. It is believed that Lakshmi (wealth) goes only to those houses which are clean and where the people are hardworking. She does not visit the places which are unclean/dirty or where the people are lazy. Above photograph shows one of the steps of Lakshmi Poojan, when clay lamps are ready to start pooja during Diwali evening.

Jama Masjid - A day after Eid

This is one of the photograph taken at India's largest mosque in Old Delhi - Jama Masjid !! This place is always surrounded by pigeons flying here and there. I waited for approximately 15 minutes to take this shot as movement is random most of the times. Luckily I didn't have to wait very long to get the right composition. This is what I wanted and I was happy to see the results. Hope to visit Jama Masjid again and come up with more photographs !!!

A very old Church hidden by long deodars on the way to Mcleodganj, Upper Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh !!!

Most beautiful natural colors I have ever captured in India !!! It's rare to see colorful and neat places in India.. Many times I saw wonderful photographs from various countries with lots of colors and cleanness, but never encountered such places in India. It was a very quick visit to Dhamshala/Mcleodganj and we stopped our car near a church on the way. When we started moving towards the church, I saw this wonderful view !!! It was right time of the year to see these colors of deodar cones !!

Well lit Christ church on Ridge ground, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Every person who visit Shimla has to go to Ridge and Christ Church is one of the interesting structure out there. Its on the rightmost edge of the Ridge when we go towards Lakkar Bazar !! Ridge is a huge ground on top of the biggest water tank in Shimla.. There is an underground market at Ridge which is known as Indira Market but not very popular.. People like to shot at Lakkar Bazar or Mall Road !!! For better options for warm cloths at reasonable prices, don't forget Lower Market below Mall Road, but one needs to do proper bargaining as required in any Hill Station :)

A Lovely flower on the way to Shrikhand Mahadev...

What all we see after reaching Shrikhand Mhadev @ 19000 feets: Posted by VJ @ Travellingcamera.com Its been two years when I have experienced all these things and still I remember most of the things very clearly. It was really an amazing experience for me and probably the best ...Here are few more photographs of Shrikhand Mahadev...Last day trek gives extremely different experince on snow covered hills with low oxygen level... I was not able to enjoy this beauty while crossing this area... Sometimes low oxygen makes you unconscious..After reaching near Shivlingam, there is only snow and huge rocks around the place. Hard to find out grass, flowers, plants on these hills...There is heavy cloud movement around these hills and sometimes we had to slow down our movement because of visibility issues...Beautiful view of mountains and clouds on trek to Shrikhand MahadevClouds, and sunlight over a mountain on trek to Shrikhand MahadevI say it Cloud Store @ Shrikhand Mahadev :)I say it Cloud Store @ Shrikhand Mahadev :) It was a huge area between hundreds of mountains and we found it completely filled with these clouds in early morning... When we came back, there was no differences and we started guessing about the area below these clouds...Shrikhand Mahadev is one of the adobes of Lord Shiva. People worship the natural, rock-made shiva-lingam which is approx 72 feet high. The view is breathtaking form the top. There are 2 ways to reach to the top, one is from Neermand and another from Arsu side: and we took first one. The trek from jaon Village takes approximately 38 kms one side to reach Shrikhand Peak.Srikhand Mahadev peak, located at an altitude of 5200 meters resembles the Shivling. It is said that Lord Shiva meditated here and the Pandavas used to visit this peak. Devotees of Lord Shiva visit at the top of the mountain where there is a small shrine of Lord Shiva. Devotees trek to the peak during the main pilgrimage season of July and August.I recommend you to carry plenty of water, energy bars, Glucose, walking stick and torch with you. These things make your trek quite comfortable... Don't forget some basic medicines by consulting your doctor by describing about this trek :) I found ist most difficult to climb huge rocks in our final strech to Shrikhand Mahadev...It is believed there are total seven Kailash mountains. The well known Mansarovar Kailash in Tibet, Adi Kailash in Pithoragarh district of Uttrakhand, Amarnath Kailash in J&K, Kinner Kailash in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, Mani Mahesh Kailash in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh,Sri Khand Kailash in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Seventh one is believed to be Boorha Kailash and is yet to be located. A Lovely flower on the way to Shrikhand Mahadev...

An amazing place near Kullu : Bijli Mahadev

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Recently I visited Bijli Mahadev, which is a small trek from Kullu. Since there is a road now, so we had to trek 3 km only. Its really an amazing place to visit and this was the best place I visited during my recent Kullu-Manali trip of four days. I visited many places like Rohtang, Solang, Vishishth, Naggar, Kullu, Manali, Manimahesh etc, but the best part was trekking experience to Bijli Mahadev... Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,438 m in the Kullu Valley. Bijli Mahadev is one of the excellent temples in India. Located 10 km from Kullu across the Beas river, it can be approached by a difficult but rewarding trek of 3 km.: Posted by Ripple (VJ) : ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography :

Bijli Mahadev is a plane area on top a very high hill near Kullu town. This is an amazing place to visit and I always recommend this place to my friends who plan for Manali...

I like this photograph but don't have any interesting caption to add...

This was shot during my first visit to Pushkar Camel Fair in 2008

The Pushkar Fair is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair held in a town known as Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs, and apart from buying and selling of livestock it has become an important tourist attraction and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competition" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists. In recent years the fair has also included an exhibition cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists. Also there is a bridal competition for foreigners....
