A wonderful view from IIAS window @ Shimla, Himchal Pradesh, INDIA

Viceregal Lodge or also known as Indian Institute of Advanced Studies is one of the best places to visit in Shimla Town. This Photograph is taken at same place. This a huge building having multiple corridors around it. This is one of the corridor in the backyard. The Cedar tree looks awesome through this huge window on other side of the corridor. Most of the part of this building in closed but some of the areas are accessible from outside. This whole campus has some beautiful gardens with lots of flowers and colorful plants.

During one of the recent trips to Shimla, I visited Indian Institute of Advanced Studies and Shimla Bus stand was visible from the way which connect IIAS with Boileuganj. Shimla has got this beautiful bus-stand with lot of space. It is located near Tootikandi which is not very crowded region in Shimla. Supposedly this one of best Bus-Stand in North-India till 2011.

Reached Hatu Peak again - A wonderful place at 3400 mtrs. (11152 ft.)

Hatu Peak is near Narkanda. There is beautiful climb of 6 kilometers form main highway. Hatu peak has a temple and tourism come here for experiencing less-explored nature. It's an amazing place with wonderful weather on the top. It's situated at 3400 mtrs. Place has got one HPPWD guest house as well. Many bollywood moviews have been shot at this place.

Beautiful lady in Reshta @ Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh

During my recent trip to Himachal Pradesh, we were roaming around some villages in Narkanda region and having lunch on roadside. This lady was walking through the side-by road and I really liked her dress. I requested one of my friend to ask her in local language that if we could click one photograph. She happily agreed and I was delighted to have a shot of this lovely dress called 'Reshta' !!!

Wondeful view of full-moon sitting on top of snow covered hills of Himalayas !!!

Himachal Pradesh being my native state, I have huge love for these hills and I love to be closer to these. Although my profession keeps me busy in big cities, but there is always an urge to go back to Himachal and do something on my homeland... Hope I would be able to take appropriate decision sometime soon !!! This Photographs was taken during my last year trip to Kullu Sarahan. It's a small village isolated from various main cities/towns of Himachal and a wonderful place to spend your vacations... Hope to visit it this year as well !!!

Panning Experiments @ MTB Himachal 2010 (Mountain Terrain Biking) - 6

Some Panning Experiments during MTB Himachal 2010 : (Mountain Terrain Biking Event organized by HASTPA) : Posted by VJ SHARMA on www.travellingcamera.com : I was never a fan of Panning technique of photography but the pace of MTB Riders and the passion of accelerating speed compelled me to try it... And believe me it was not a simple task to do panning with unpredictable speed of these riders... They were extremely fast and suddenly they used to disappear due to frequent turns on hills.. During last two days MTB Himachal 2010, I tried few shots of panning and here are the results.. Check out !!!This was very first shot of panning I tried on third last day and this motivated to click more :) ... Since it was evening time, light and relatively slow shutter speed helped me to click this photograph in such a way that motion is clear in the final results.... Now I was more confident to try it again during next day !!!Here is another photograph, but it doesn't look like panning shot but I liked the way final result came... It was evening time when we were very near to the camping site of the day... Here is another photograph and I loved the star effect in the background... Colorful dresses of MTB Riders and natural beauty of himalayas helped making this photograph more colorful...Here is a photograph clicked with Fish eye and the rider was very near to me... Thats why there is some distortion in back tyre of this cycle...gain this can be called as panning shot... Best way of shooting a good panning shot is to anticipate the speed of the object and then set same shutter-speed.... Here is one rider from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh...Another rider of MTB Himachal 2010...

This photograph was clicked last year during Mountain Terrain Biking event in Himachal Pradesh during October. This is first time I seriously tried panning but believe me it was too difficult with these guys :) Everyone has unique speed and very fast, in fact... And there is no chance of clicking two panning shots with one rider :)

Palampur : One of my dream place to live !!!

Here is one of the photographs clicked just after getting out of Bus Stand at Palampur ! It's such a lovely town and believe me, it's not possible to explain the qualities of this town in words. One has to visit the place to feel the difference between this town and others in Hills and even if we compare it with modern facilities of big cities or Metros. Although it would be bad if we compare this beautiful town with big cities like Delhi ! To check more photographs of Palampur Click Here...

Full moon sitting on a snow covered hill of Himalayan Mountain Ranges in Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

TFirst of all, it's not full moon but looked like that only !!! It was early morning at Sarahan Village in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh and moon was still very clear in the sky... We went for a morning walk towards the government and came back to our camp, but still the moon was clearly visible in the sky ! I though of capturing it in my Travelling Camera and incidently the moment I clicked the photographs, it looked like a sitting moon on top of a Hill capped with fresh snow !!!.

Panning Experiments @ MTB Himachal 2010 (Mountain Terrain Biking) - 5

Last year, I aprticipated in MTB Himachal 2010 as Photographer due to my over-excitement about this event, although it was very disappointing in the end. Never mind, this activity provided various opportunities to try different things from Photography point of view. During fourth day of MTB I tried various Panning shots !! Apart from Panning, it was really challenging to deal with light on hills and situation becomes worse while moving whole day. Light variation is huge between the hills and bby the time you get familiar with one type of light, you reaches another light region :) ... All in all it was a good decision to go to Himalayas with my Camera but I would prefer not to go to MTB this year !!! Planning a personal trip would be more beneficial in my personal opinion. Beautiful Cricket Stadium surrounded by snow capped hills of Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges of Himalayas @ Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

I am not a cricket fan but recently visited Dharmshala to cover final match of T20 Mahasangram organized by HPCA and Jaypee Cement was sponsor of this great event. This tournament made a world record and that was a big thing. But for me, Stadium in Dharmshala was more special. What a stadium is was ! Unimaginably beautiful and snow covered hills in it's surrounding make it far better !! Let me share that beauty of this place can be captured in a Photograph. One has to visit the place to really appreciate the beauty !!!

A wonderful view of Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges covered with snow

Recently I visited a village called Pathiar which is very famous for high quality potatoes and many companies like Lays take most of the Potato crop from this region ! This village is exactly under Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges near Palampur. Apart from beauty, all the these mountains provide magical energy to Himalayan land to grow world's famous Kangra-Tea and Potatoes...

Panning Experiments @ MTB Himachal 2010 (Mountain Terrain Biking) - 3

Although this photograph doesn't have any panning effect visually, but it was an attempt to capture the back motion with moving rider as still elements in the photograph.. Background is blurred but a feel of motion is missing ! In this photograph, fill in flash is used to make sure that rider is clearly visible even if photograph is clicked against sunlight.. This was probably 4th day of MTB Himachal 2010 and whole day was full of energy while going through beautiful hills in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh !!!

MTB Himachal 2010 Rider @ National Highway 22, near Rampur

Recently I participated in MTB Himachal 2010 as Photographer... If you are aware of MTB, its Mountain Terrain Biking event organized with HASTPA where lot of bike riders come from  various countries of the world.... Its an event which gives an opportunity to explore Himalayan terrains during 8 days to cover 500 kilometers... This Photograph shows a rider on clean road which was rare during the whole trip of 8 days... It was just 15 minutes when these riders were on National Highway 22.. Most of the times MTB Riders had to explore the unexplored regions of Shimla and Kullu Districts of Himachal Pradesh...
