Papadvaala @ India Gate, Delhi

This photographs was clicked at India Gate during beginning of this year. These Papads are very popular in Delhi and can be bought on red lights as well !!! During early days, I used to avoid such things which are sold in open, because of Delhi pollution and dirt all around. Soon I realized that they keep these covered with a plastic piece. Anyway, all these are just excuses... Now I like them and eat wherever I find...

Missed Delhi's first Kite Festival which happened last weekend at India Gate !! (12th - 13th Nov, 2011)

I was listening about this Kite Festival for last few weeks and when I planned for it, something special came on the way. Every year, our official trip if organized during this time of the year and this time our trip to Corbett conflicted with Kite Festival. After coming back from Corbett, I am seeing hundreds of photographs of wonderful festival and people had good time at India Gate. Now I am truly missing First Kite Festival of Delhi and hope I make for it next time !! Since I had no photograph of Kite Fest, I though of putting this night shot of India Gate Here...

Family time at India Gate in Delhi !!!

If there is some special occasion, or some guests are visiting you and you have no idea what to do... India Gate is the place to reach and have some fun during evenings !!! This is what I used to hear about this place that India Gate is most popular place in Delhi and especially it's best for family outings. I think it's still true if we ignore more frequent visits to Air-conditioned Malls...

A little form of Lutyen's Architecture @ India Gate, Delhi

I am sure that you will be able to recognize this Lamp if you have visited India Gate or President's House in Delhi !!! These are made up on red stone and carved to give this shape... Most of the buildings in this area are made up of same stone.. Like President's House, India Gate, Museum of Modern Art etc...

This shot was taken during a lovely evening during winters of 2010 and other photographs can be checked at http://phototravelings.blogspot.com/2011/02/india-gate-alive-at-night.html

INDIA Against Corruption !!!

Posting this photograph to recollect all the activities which have happened during last few months and the way Anna Hazare is doing with his team !!! Sometimes when I think about all these things, is seems a new KRANTI in India and it can be painful but hope that results in something good ! Initially kings ruled India, then Britishers came and when country is known as biggest democratic nation. But behind this definition, our leaders are doing everything they want to do and no one can stop them in 90% cases. What exactly is difference between the Kings we used to have years back and these leaders who are although chosen by public but can do anything during next 5 years after election. Sometimes, internal bonding between these political groups is so strong that it doesn't matter who is ruling.. Their personal agendas can easily be accomplished. This is one of the Kranti where I see lot Indian coming up and supporting Anna and team !!!

Golgappe Vaala @ India Gate, Delhi

In India and specially in North part, Golgappas are very popular and for many folks, any outing with Golgappas is incomplete and useless ! So it's not hard to locate any stall of Golgappas in a market, around parks or some popular places to visit. This Photograph is taken near India Gate and these folks keep walking with all the stuff to serve people who come here during the evening !!!

Female Hawker selling Chan-jor garam and Chips @ INDIA GATE, Delhi

Its very common to hawkers at some main places in India, selling some chutar-putar snacks, tea-coffee, golgappas, chips etc. Sometimes its irritating when some of the folks just keep following you to sell some stuff but that is not very common. But overall I like the idea as it gives many people a way to earn money through some hard work. I can imagine how difficult it could be to earn money in big cities of countries like India. Some people opt for short-cuts and illegal ways of earning good amount of money, which anyway impact others in negative sense. And these people try to earn their bread-n-butter through hard-work and I love it !!!

During one of the Photo-shoots last months I was trying out few things with Bokeh and here is one of the photograph I liked... The up side down U shaped building is India gate with street lights on both the sides... I tried lot many things with various focal length and manual focus !! I guess it would be one of the technique to test quality of Camera Lenses...

A family getting group shot near India Gate Delhi

A Family having group Photograph at India Gate in Delhi !!! I liked the composition of this family having two children, their parents and grand-parents together in a happy pose... India Gate is very popular place for spending evenings in Delhi and in summers crowd increases suddenly as the area around it is airy because of lot of green areas around it. And India Gate area is very less populated as compared to other parts of Delhi !!! There are some huge grounds around India Gate and people come here with prepared dinner and spend their evening and go back late night !! Then time for young groups starts and lot of people can be seen hanging around till 1:00 am...

Hawkers selling Chip and Pop-corns around India Gate in Delhi, INDIA

A female hawker selling some chips at India gate in Delhi (INDIA). There are lot of such options like chana-jor-garam, Golgappas, bhel-puri etc... All these folks do find some buyers and it is good that these people get to earn their livings as well. The only problem is cleanliness around the place. People find it too tough to walk to one of the abundant dustbins in the area to dispose of their plastic wastes and instead prefer to leave it lying in the green grass or on the roads... although people get everything cleaned next morning but over the time these places have become stinky and all the greenery has been ruined due to these bad habbits. Recently I read a very good article on Ghumakkar - "The Litterbug Revolution" and very much liked it !!! Just have a look !!!

India Gate @ Delhi, INDIA : Created of Bokeh

Recently I got Nikkor 50mm 1.8 and it has wonderful bokeh !!! During one of my recent visits to India gate, i tried few shots and here is one of them !!! Many times I used to see circular bokeh in the photographs and my first lens was not able to give those results.. bokeh points were always elliptical... Then I read about this concept of bokeh and these are very much dependent on optics of the lens which vary lens to Lens... I have also tried the fish-eye and it's simply wonderful !!!
