Shining Star on top of Pong Dam Lake near Nagrota in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh, India || A Fish Eye Photograph

Here is a hotograph shot with a Fish Eye which gives wider view to a place as compared to standard lenses. Although distortion of this photograph have been fixed and we needed to crop the original photograph which has obviously reduced some view from all four directions. Fish eye lens clicks a photograph which looks spherical. Anyways, This is Pong Dam which is one of the popular destination of Migratory Birds in Himachal Pradesh. For more Photographs of Pong Dam with more details, check out - HERE

Post Sunset hues from Trilokinath (Lahual and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA)

This is a three years old Photograph, which was clicked at Trilokinath Temple in Lahaul & Spiti. Most of the co-travellers can't forget this adventurous trip to Lahual & Spiti. It was the time, when we stuck at a place due to land-slide and our hotel was just 14 kilometers away, but had no option but to go back. After a day long journey from Chandigarh, we were about to reach Udaipur and stuck at a place near Trilokinath. Finally we came back and stayed in an open ground outside Trilokinath Temple. We got some forest-wood to have bonfire and spent whole night in chilling ground surrounded by snow covered peaks.

Sunset time in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Somehow capturing sunset is very exciting for every photographer and everyone tries to do something different during this time and it provide various opportunities to click magical portraits, Silhouettes, colorful layers etc !!! It's ben more than four years that I am doing photography and passion for sunset photographs has not come down. One fine day, one of the photographer was giving his thoughts about progression in photography and he mentioned that sunset is ideal time for a beginner to shot, and can be more exciting for professionals who may not want to shoot sunsets anymore !!!

Sun Reflecting off the waters of the Ranjit Singh Dam... : A View from Dalhousie...

Main places to visit around Dalhousie : One of the popular Hill Staton in Himachal Pradesh : Posed by VJ SHARMA : For last few days I have been checking all my old photographs and dalhousie trip was most exciting with my college friends... After publishing most of these photographs, I thought of sharing all places in single post...If we take a round trip to Dalhousie via Khajjiar and Chamba, Chamera project comes on the way... Its located between beautiful hills of Chamba... There are some pine forests around it and recommended for nature walks...Panchpula is known for its waterfalls and few other water-streams, which are main source of water for Dalhousie region... Words can't define this place.. Even photographs can't express this place... Amazing place and must visit... Check out more photograph of this place by clicking on the photograph above... This is also known as Mini Switzerland of INDIA...Chamba is district headqaurter of Dalhousie and Khajjiar... There is a museum here to know more about Chamba and its past... There are few temples on hill tops...There are various walks in Dalhousie town.... Mall Road, Shubhash Chowk to Gandhi Chowk (A small road apart from Mall Road...)There are two Churches in Dalhousie.. One is near Shubhash Chowk, having colorful birds and rabbits caught inside... Other one is near Gandhi Chowk which has some fixed timings to open and close... Kala Top is Wild-Life Sanctuary and wonderful trek.. Click on above photograph to know more about the place and see few other photographs...If there is no snow in Dalhouise, go to Dainkund... You will find something to play with :-) .... A nice trek through forests and high mountains...Main river in Chamba District... Ravi River...If you go to Chamba from Dalhousie via Khajjiar, a place comes on the way which has clear way to Kailash... Place mentioned in HPTDC Tourist-Guide...Per-Panjal Mountain range can always be seen from Mall-Road in Dalhousie...Go to back side of Church at Shubhash Chowk durin sunset and spend some quality time in the evening there... Nice place to spend 1 hr during sunset... Calm road where most of the local-folks come for evening walk... Sun Reflecting off the waters of the Ranjit Singh Dam...: The good thing about Dalhousie is that the mall road is mostly empty of stalls and shops and is a great place to take a walk with your camera. There are rest benches at strategic locations from where you can see some spectacular views. If you are adventurous, you can also go on the terraces of the hotels to lean out into the valley and click that absolutely priceless shot. However, Mall road is best for day time shots and sunset is not visible clearly from there. For the sunset, the quiet road right behind my hotel was the best. All of the shots below are taken from that road. Dalousie, Sunset, Himachal Pradesh, himalayas, India, Hills

Sunset view of Shogi, a small twon near Shimla (Himachal Pradesh, INDIA)

Sunset @ Shoghi : A small twon near Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA : Posted by VJ Sharma @ www.travellingcamera.com : Shogi is small place near Shimla. Its approximately 20 kilometers from Shimla which is capital of Himachal Pradesh state of INDIA. It's on Kalka-Shimla highway and also there is a railway station for stoppage of Himalyan Queen... Here are few sunset photographs of Shogi with my personal opinions about the place...Many of the friend have visited Shogi in the past and most of them enjoyed their stay here... For me, it was a small station near Shimla, where tourists stay due to nice hotels on cheaper rates as compared to main Shimla Town... Because I belong to Himachal Pradesh, I don't see Shogi as a very different place... Its just like other small stations in Himachal with good Resorts and Hotels...During my last visit to Shimla, I thought of going to Shogi with my friend to see the main attractions there... We drove around... We enjoyed the drive through forests and found that its a good place for a group of people to stay... There are some nice resorts at appropriate locations of Shogi... Its a place for people who want to relax from their busy schedule... Many people from Delhi come here with family and friends to sepnd some time on these hills... I had taken some Sunset shots while coming back to Chhota Shimla...

Sunset capture @ Pathankot Railway Station, PUNJAB

While I was traveling back from Dalhousie, I happened to be at the right place at the right time. Fortunately, the direction of the railway station is such that you can see the sun set behind the railway tracks. Pathankot, Railway, Station, Sunset

Pathankot is a major railroad junction. Lines from Amritsar (2 hrs) and Delhi (8 hrs) merge here and all services to Jammu (2 hrs) pass through. In addition to Pathankot station itself, there is a second station called Chakki Bank just 4 km away and serves some express trains that do not stop in Pathankot station. Nowadays the majority of the Jammu trains stop only at Chakki Bank and not at Pathankot.

In addition, Pathankot is also served by the narrow-gauge Kangra Valley Railway built by the British, which crawls 128 km to Joginder Nagar via Palampur and Kangra (near Dharamsala). However, the luxury Kangra Queen services were terminated back in 2003, leaving about 6 departures daily of slow, often packed second class trains, taking over six hours. Bookings for these can only be done locally at Pathankot station. Some of these trains run to Baijnath Paprola and a few to Joginder Nagar.

Good Morning Clouds @ Shrikhand Mahadev, Kullu Himachal Pradesh

Good Morning Clouds @ Shrikhand Mahadev, Kullu Himachal Pradesh: Posted by VJ @ www.travellingcamera.com: During my 5 days of trekking to Shrikhand, Clouds around us played different games ... but we enjoyed most of them :) Most of the times, morning starts with nice sunshine and most of the space is covered by clouds after 1 Hr ... visibility starts decreasing after 8 am.... After 12 noon, these clouds start playing hide and seek and show difference colors on mountains... I was able to capture some details in early morning because its more clear in morning as compared to other day times...It was a great experience to see fast moving clouds from one region of mountains to other... We also experienced views when it was raining on the other end which was approximately 300 meters away from dry area where we were just waiting it to stop :) We were thinking that, its gonna rain on us in next few seconds... Weather on the way was very unpredictable.Clouds moving up from deep areas between these hills... This is very early morning shot and finally they assemble on the top and rain.. finally Sun comes to get your cloths dry... Clouds roaming around hill-tops during evening time... After 5 pm, density of these clouds decreases and most of the region around you isPartial lighting on hills due to clouds... visible to enjoy clear sunset...Clouds, Trek, Shimla, Shrikhand Mahadev, Clouds, Hill Stations, Hills, Snow Covered Hills, green, Sunrise, Sunset, rains,

I like this photograph but don't have any interesting caption to add...

This was shot during my first visit to Pushkar Camel Fair in 2008

The Pushkar Fair is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair held in a town known as Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs, and apart from buying and selling of livestock it has become an important tourist attraction and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competition" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists. In recent years the fair has also included an exhibition cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists. Also there is a bridal competition for foreigners....
