Piyush Tewari at TEDx Connaught Place to talk about SaveLIFE Foundation and how it operates in some part of India !!!

Recently attended TEDx show at Delhi and Mr. Piyush Tewari was first speaker of the TEDx evening. He works on improving situations of Road Accidents and helping people after an accident. Currently people avoid to help in case of road accidents to avoid unnecessary tension of police and court. Tewari's organization work with local police to make people aware about helping road accidents. He works with frequent road travelers and try to track down accident location through some of the wonderful technologies. I recommend watching this video online. For more photographs and details about this event, check out http://phototravelings.blogspot.in/2012/02/tedx-connaught-place-on-impacting.html

Roads near Naukuchiataal in Uttrakhand state of INDIA

Paragliding @ Naukuchiataal, Uttrakhand state of INDIA : During recent trip to Naukuchiataal, all of our office folks tried Paragliding and it was a great fun... Its 6 kilometers form the lake and one has to trek 400 meters to take off for the flight :): Here is our first hero to take the flight in the air.. Paraglider take off from a cliff and land down in a village near to the lake... Its 15-20 minutes ride depending upon the flow of the air... They charge 1300 rs for that.. I had already done paragliding at SONLANG Valley near Manali in Himachal Pradesh and BIR BILLING in Kangra Valley... So it was not worth spending 1300 .. For first time experience, its worth... Also one can negotiate to get a deal for 800-1000 in case group comprises of more than 5... : After feeling the excitment, most of my friends tried a ride in air... during the ride, many of them thought that I am clicking their photographs ... and you know... there was no pic with clear face :( : One of our friend screaming while taking off for the flight in air.... Road connecting lake and the place where paragliding happens... This road was very beutiful and had few patches on the way...Coloful hills arond paragliding area at Naukuchiataal... This is a view of hills parallel to the place where paragliders take off.... Tarun and his family taking rest on the half way while climbing to paragliding club.... Another photograph of the road leading to Pragaliding place from Naukuchiataal.. All of them want to try paragliding and waiting for gliders to come back.... Actually there were only 5 gliders there and they used to take them back from the landing place... All this used to take 30 minutes at least... A view of the lake from Paragliding place @ Naukuchiataal, Uttrakhand, INDIA... This is the landmark to find out the place where paragliding happens in Naukuchiataal... When we were driving towards it, we moved ahead and missed this board.... after some distance, we asked a gentleman on the way and got to know that borad was the point form where we had to climb to a small hill... Another paraglider in sky with clouds @ Naukuchiataal, Uttrakhand, INDIA

Me in glass reflection of a Car @ Bir Billing, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Travelling-Camera sharing some high altitude captures from Road Journey to Bir-Billing: World Famous place for Paragliding: Posted by VJ on www.travellingcamera.com : VJ capturing reflection of beautiful Billing on car-window... Travelling Camera @ Billing, World's famous Para-gliding site...After a long road journey through Mandi, Hamirpur, Sujanpur-Tira, Palampur, Dharmshala and Baijnath, we finally reached Billing, world famous site for Paragliding.Just crossed Bir to reach Billing for experiencing paragliding on world's famous site in Dhauladhar Mountain range... Under legs of mountains and surrounded by tea gardens Bir a small village with a Tibetan Colony and monasteries in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh(INDIA) which serves as a landing ground and a base for Hang/Para-gliders. Launching or take-off place is BILLING which is a little meadow at 2408 meters (8550 feets) on the Dhauladhar ranges: 14 kilometers up from Bir. This meadow is one of the wonders of nature seems like perfectly designed as a launch pad. Billing has become a legend on the international paragliding circuits and a destination for World Champion Paraglider pilots. The meadow directly above the villages of Bir and Chaugan is one of the best gliding sites in the world...Travelling Camera trying to capture wonderful colors of BILLING through side mirror of Hundai i10 ... From Billing the mountain range runs all the way to Dharamsala by separating the Kangra district distrc from Chamba. To the north of the meadow is the high peaks and to the south the plains. The fall from the meadow is about one kilometre and an average straight top to bottom flight to the Chaughan landing area lasts for about 30-45 minutes.A View of Jogindernagar region from a small road towards BILLING from Aehju...Road between Aehju and Bir is fine but the stretch of 10 kilometers was in very bad conditions. Its a very narrow road and rough at most places... Careful driving is very important because there are deep valleys on the other edge of this road... Initially its discouraging but after reaching BILLING, we found it worth it... A View of landing place BIR from the most famous paragliding destination in Dhauladhar range... The huge Dhauladar mountain range and Kangra valley with its panoramic views offer opportunities for high altitude flying for more than 190 kilometers. The Dhauladar range runs from Dalhousie in the North West of Himachal Pradesh in a curving arc of south-east to Mandi. Billing lies roughly midway between Dharamsala and Mandi and to the south west of Manali/Kullu valley.Tourist Vehicles @ BILLING, amazing para-gliding site in INDIA.. Billing is very well known in world for having the distinction of organizing the very first Paragliding competition according to the rules of Federation Aeronautique International. The Department of Tourism of Himachal Pradesh also organizes 'Para Gliding Pre world Cup' at Billing- Bir . It is also the place for Hang gliding and Para Sailing...Travelling Camera capturing the only house at high altitude of Billing Hills in Dhauladhar Range...

Water flooded roads in Delhi after rains...

Monsoon Effect in Delhi - 2010: Posted by VJ SHARMA at www.travellingcamera.com : Rains bring joy, rains bring happiness. But along with all this, rain also brings waterlogging and traffic jams in metropoliton cities such as Delhi. But in spite of all that, it is a welcome visitor. And this year, monsoon has been very generous. We had all forgotten what monsoon really means. This year it refreshed all memories...Walking through muddy roads is a challenge, especially when you are wearing flip-flops. And during rainy season, everyone get psyched enough to fold up the trouser legs even when there is no water around. It becomes more like a habit. Some images brought back memories of my childhood.Being splattered with muddy water by a rogue car is a very common tale of misery one comes across during this season of fun and mischief. With several pock-marked roads, driving through the city was a major challenge this season. One advise here is that it is best to avoid water on the sides of the road as you never know what lies beneath that deceptively placid surface.I don't know about other cities but this was a common site in Delhi. Yamuna has been flowing above the danger mark since the last 5 days and the water from the river also spilled over near ISBT.Half an hour worth of rain was enough to cause jams that lasted for hours. The drainage system completely went for a toss. But still, all of us love rains and a dry monsoon means soaring tempers, mounting irritation and silent hopelessness. So God, please give us decent amount of rains year after year.

A View of Chenab River near Tandi @ Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Travelling Camera on back journey from Famous Shiva Temple @ Trilokinath, Lahaul and Spiti, Himchal Pradesh...This blog PHOTO JOURNEY was started on first July of 2008 and very first post was about Lahaul and Spiti... Here I am going to share some of the photographs of back journey from Trilokinath which is in Lahul district of Himachal Pradesh...Photographs licked near Tandi Bridge... As you can see in above photographs.. Tandi-0 km :)Tandi is a place in Lahaul and Spiti District of Himachal Pradesh, where Chandra River and Bhaga river meets to make Chandrabhaga....The Chandrabhaga River is also known as Chenab which is formed by the confluence of the Chandra and Bhaga rivers at upper Himalyas. It flows through the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir into the plains of the Punjab, forming the boundary between the Rechna and Jech interfluves. It is joined by the Jhelum River at Trimmu and then by the Ravi River Ahmedpur Sial. It then merges with the Sutlej River near Uch Sharif, Pakistan to form the Panjnad or the 'Five Rivers', the fifth being the Beas River which joins the Satluj near Ferozepur, India. For more info CLICK HEREFrom this journey, I am not able to recall any moment when snow covered Himalyas were not visible from our car.. They were everywhere... I think Lahaul and Spiti district is amazing place to chill out.. but it has another side to it.. While we were at Trilokinath, we spent some time with Pandit ji there and we got to know that most the areas disconnects from rest of the world for 7 months in an year... Can you imagine yourself living in an area for 7 months without any access to vehicles n all... Its really tough but they have planned their life according to their local eco-system...While travelling in Lahaul and Spiti, we can see beautiful valleys along with snow capped hills of Himalyan Range... This region is rich in terms of Agriculture... I am not sure about the whole district but area between Manali and Keylong had lot many valleys with agricultural land...Towards north of the state is a snow capped Trans Himalayan district of Himachal Pradesh comprising of two major valleys Lahaul and Spiti. The district is lying on the Hindustan-Tibet border... It is a tribal district with unique Tibetan Buddhist culture...

Monsoons in Delhi, INDIA : Part-2

Monsoons in Capital of INDIA ( DELHI ): Posted by VJ Sharma on www.travellingcamera.com : Now monsoon is there in Delhi and probability of traffic jams has increased in capital city of INDIA. Here are few photographs clicked during monsoon season of 2010...As per my definition, Monsoon is a much awaited season after scorching summers and people get bored of this season soon :-)I enjoy rains at times but these should not be continuous... Rains bring freshness in our surroundings but they can ruin many other things due to this continuous behavior... Monsoon Effects !!!

Monsoons in Hamirpur District of Himachal Pradesh: Posted by VJ @ www.travellingcamera.com : All these photographs were shot during monsoons last year. It was the day when I had to leave for Mandi from Hamirpur to meet other friends for 4 days trip to Manali. I left home at 5 am and there was heavy rain during whole night... As I left, rain started again and following are few scenes I captured with my Mobile phone...Water everywhere and most of the passengers in the bus were scared. Some of the students had some entrance test and they had no choice. They were just praying for reaching the test-center on time...This truck was parked on the side of the road and there is nothing like any road here... This is the point from where our bus returned back and planned to go through another route... On second route, after going approximately 10 kms, road was blocked due to heavy landslide... I was also worried about the students who had worked hard for their entrance and now they had no option... Bus stopped and we all were inside the bus because of heavy rain outside... 4 of the students courage to move ahead in search of any private cab on other side of the road... We all saw them crossing the broken road and moving ahead and everyone was wishing them luck !!!We were on a high point on a hill and here is one photographs of surrounding area... We had no option now and bus driver refused to drive until rain stops...Here is another shot... We moved back from this point after 4 hrs and took a taxi for Mandi through another route and finally reached @ 4:30PM
