Lady in colorful Rajasthani Dress @ National School of Drama, Delhi

Recently a play by Ranjit Kappor called Aadamzad was showcased at Sammukh, NSD and it was around two families in Rajasthan. But this photograph is not about the play the dress this girl is wearing. Dress and jewellery is typical Rajasthani style and whole world is fan of this. Although happy expressions would have been better, but overall this photograph touched my heart and thought of sharing it here.

Rajasthani Dinner @ Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur, INDIA

The main part is the Rajasthani food served in the Dinner. Buffet is served on one side & there is a place next to it where food is served to you sitting down on the floor. We preferred the second option & enjoyed the food in traditional style. A lot of things are served in a specific order & you can ask for anything anytime, but most of the times Dhani-people around you will ask to have something. Service is really amazing. Best known Rajasthani food Dal-Bhati-Churma is also served, but for adventurous traveler, willing to experiment, there is a lot of variety available. It includes Dal Pachhmelri, Kadi Besanro , Makki/Bajara Roti, gatta, Bura, Butter, Ghee, Chhachh, Lassi, Papad, Khichadi etc & they call all these items in different way.

I like this photograph but don't have any interesting caption to add...

This was shot during my first visit to Pushkar Camel Fair in 2008

The Pushkar Fair is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair held in a town known as Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs, and apart from buying and selling of livestock it has become an important tourist attraction and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competition" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists. In recent years the fair has also included an exhibition cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists. Also there is a bridal competition for foreigners....

A Stunning Bride in a Brown Lehenga with Golden Lace Work. The young man next to her cannot take his eyes off her face.

Bridal Competetion for Tourists @ Pushkar Camel Fair - 2008: While visiting Pushkar, I chanced upon a Bridal Competition where young foreign girls dressed in beautiful Indian bridal dresses, contemporary and traditional. Till very recent past, it was a norm to use maroon (a deep red) fabric for a bridal dress in north India. However, recently, designers and brides have started experimenting with new colors, such as Golden, Green, Orange etc.: Posted by VJ on PHOTO JOURNEY @ www.travellingcamera.com : VJ, ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, VJ-Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography : A Stunning Bride in a Brown Lehenga with Golden Lace Work. Siliserh Lake on the way to Sariska Tiger Reserve, Rajasthan..

This lake was created by Maharaja Vinay Singh during 1844 so that the water could be channeled to Alwar. Alwar's landscapes bloomed with luxuriant gardens after this... Shradh Pooja @ Jaipur Ghat, Pushkar, Rajasthan

Pushkar has five principal temples, many smaller temples and 52 ghats where pilgrims descend to the lake to bathe in the sacred waters. One of the primary temples is the 14th century temple dedicated to Brahma, the Hindu god of creation.

Roads in Rajasthan

Rajasthan has a lot to offer to the tourist. Heritage, culture, tradition, art, designs, food are a few of the items in the bouquet. Another great thing about Rajasthan is the wide, pot hole free roads. I recently travelled to Ajmer, Pushkar, Udaipur, and Chittaurgarh with my family and we did not come across bad roads even once, not even in the market places or the narrow streets of old Udaipur.,Rajasthan, Pushkar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Dargah, Chittorgarh, Chittaurgarh, Pushkar, Aravalli,The marvellous road from Haldigati to Udaipur boasts of blue skies and yellow-colored hills. The contrast is so magnificient that it is surreal

Moon Shining on the Dome of the Monsoon Palace @ Udaipur, Rajasthan , INDIA

Also named as the Sajjan Garh Palace after Maharana Sajjan Singh, the Monsoon Palace was built on a hilltop to provide a view of the Monsoon clouds. I am not sure how much it is used for that purpose now, but it definitely provides a panoramic view of the Udaipur City. The drive to the palace is pleasant through a wild-life sanctuary, which is a reserve for reptiles, tigers, nilgai, sambhar, wild boars, hyenas, panthers, and jackals. And, as expected, we did not see any of those during the ride. The Monsoon Palace is also the Sunset Point. When we visited, a quite crowd was waiting for the sun to set with their cameras ready on the Tripods. It was a peaceful, safe, and beautiful place, Rajasthan, Udaipur, Sunset, Monsoon, Palace, Monsoon Palace. Aravalli, Hills

The great gate stands to the north of the entrance forecourt (jilaukhana) ....

The corners are articulated with octagonal towers giving the structure a defensive appearance. External domes were reserved for tombs and mosques and so the large central space does not receive any outward expression of its internal dome....

A bride in the traditional Rajasthani Bridal Dressup @ Pushkar Camel Fair -2008

You do not need to look too closely to figure out the difference. The patchwork lehenga in bold colors along with white painted jewellery is a trademark of Rajasthan. The white jewellery was traditionally made of ivory. But Ivory from the Endangered Indian Elephants is now banned.
