Birds going back home in the evening @ Lotus Temple, Dlehi

A good place to visit in Delhi : Lotus Temple @ Nehru Place, Delhi, INDIA: Here are some some miscellaneous shots of Lotus Temple. The construction of the temple is similar to that of the Opera House in Sydney. The temple always looks mesmerizing. However, different light conditions have different effect on the way the temple appears.: Posted by Ripple (VJ) on PHOTO JOURNEY @ www.travellingcamera.com : ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography : A flock of birds taking a flight in front of the temple.@ LOTUS TEMPLE, Nehru Place, Delhi, INDIA

Road in the Mountains with Green trees on both the sides :: Looks like a green tunnel.

Travelling Camera on a long Drive in Himachal Pradesh: Mandi : Hamirpur : Sujanpur : Palampur : Dharmshala : Palampur : Baijnath : Biling : Jogindernagar: Posted by VJ on www.travellingcamera.com : A couple of my friends got married in June this year. I along with a few other friends took this opportunity to travel across Himachal on road. Therefore, the long itinerary. The sights en route were countless but here are the shots of some of the most remarkable ones.Road in the Mountains with Green trees on both the sides. Looks like a green tunnel. Road between Hamirpur to Palampur through Sujanpur is pretty good. There is a small strech of 8 kilometers which is comparatively bad but work was going on there... I traveled through this road after 4 years and it has improved a lot... Road has been widened between Hamirpur and Sunjanpur, which has reduced the major pain...Raindrops on the Windshield. The shot was clicked close to Dharamshala, one of the wettest places in India. It receives a lot of rain, second only to Cherrapunji...This is a short-cut for Dharmshala when you move from Palampur through Chamunda.. This particular road was bad but you need not to worry, because main road from Palampur to Dharmshala is amazing... After new cricket stadium in Dharmshala, it's maintained very well...Beautiful Cloud Formation... Palampur Region is simply amazing and these days I am dreaming of a Villa in Palampur Hills, Valleys, and a solitary house at Billing. Bir-Billing, in Kangra district near Baijnath, is regarded as among the best in the world for Paragliding. Billing (2290 m) is the take-off site and Bir (1400 m) is the village at the landing site. The road distance between the two is 14 km. Bir is sheltered by the Dhauladhar mountains and the ridges behind keep rising to 3000 mtrs, 4000 mtrs, 5000 mtrs and one after the other so as pilot can fly at 4000 mtrs and still watch the mountains tower above. Bir is a beautiful village surrounded by tea gardens and spectacular scenery, whereas Billing offers unique opportunities for high altitude and cross country flying and flights of 180 kms have been achieved from here...The house reflected in the side-view mirror...On the way to Jogindernagar from Baijnath... There is a wide road from Baijnath to Jogindernagar.. and very good for leisure drive... Many times I suggest the drive from Palampur to Baijnath and when I saw this road after Baijnath, I am not sure what to say ...

A View of Kullu Valley from Naggar Palace

Naggar Castle is situated on the left bank of river Beas at an altitude of 1851m, above sea level. Naggar - an ancient town commands an extensive views, especially of the north west of the valley. Naggar was the former capital of Kullu about 1460 years. It was founded by Raja Visudhpal and continued as a headquarters of the State until the capital was transferred to Sultanpur (Kullu) by Jagat Singh probably by 1460 A.D. Today this ancient and beautiful place is a popular tourist spot in the Kullu valley which has many legends and attractions. The Castle was converted into a rest house about hundred years back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel. This medieval Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D., the hotel over looks the Kullu Valley and apart from the spectacular view and superb location, this has the flavor of authentic western Himalayan architecture. Here a gallery houses the paintings of the Russian artist Nicholas Reorich, Naggar also has three other old shrines. Hotel Castle is an unique medieval stone and wood carvings now a HPTDC heritage hotel. It offers a grand view of the valley: Posted by Ripple (VJ) : ripple, Vijay Kumar Sharma, ripple4photography, Frozen Moments, photographs, Photography, ripple (VJ), VJ, Ripple (VJ) Photography, Capture Present for Future, Freeze Present for Future, ripple (VJ) Photographs , VJ Photographs, Ripple (VJ) Photography :

Monsoon Effects !!!

Monsoons in Hamirpur District of Himachal Pradesh: Posted by VJ @ www.travellingcamera.com : All these photographs were shot during monsoons last year. It was the day when I had to leave for Mandi from Hamirpur to meet other friends for 4 days trip to Manali. I left home at 5 am and there was heavy rain during whole night... As I left, rain started again and following are few scenes I captured with my Mobile phone...Water everywhere and most of the passengers in the bus were scared. Some of the students had some entrance test and they had no choice. They were just praying for reaching the test-center on time...This truck was parked on the side of the road and there is nothing like any road here... This is the point from where our bus returned back and planned to go through another route... On second route, after going approximately 10 kms, road was blocked due to heavy landslide... I was also worried about the students who had worked hard for their entrance and now they had no option... Bus stopped and we all were inside the bus because of heavy rain outside... 4 of the students courage to move ahead in search of any private cab on other side of the road... We all saw them crossing the broken road and moving ahead and everyone was wishing them luck !!!We were on a high point on a hill and here is one photographs of surrounding area... We had no option now and bus driver refused to drive until rain stops...Here is another shot... We moved back from this point after 4 hrs and took a taxi for Mandi through another route and finally reached @ 4:30PM

Extended part of Bhakhra Dam : Govind Sagar Lake @ Lathiani, UNA, Himachal Pradesh

Posted by Ripple (VJ) : Govind Sagar Lake @ Lathiani, UNA, Himachal Pradesh: Tourism and Civil Aviation department. Water-skiing, sailing, kayaking and water scooter racing are popular water sports activities during this period. (This happens near bilaspur)

The reservoir on the river Sutlej, was formed after the hydel dam at Bhakra was constructed and has been named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. One of the world's highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam rises nearly 225.5 m above its lowest foundations. Under the supervision of the American dam-builder, Harvey Slocum, work began in the year of 1955 and was completed in 1962. To maintain the level of water, the flow of river Beas was channelized to Gobind Sagar by the Beas-Sutlej link which was accompalished in 1976.

Sunset capture @ Pathankot Railway Station, PUNJAB

While I was traveling back from Dalhousie, I happened to be at the right place at the right time. Fortunately, the direction of the railway station is such that you can see the sun set behind the railway tracks. Pathankot, Railway, Station, Sunset

Pathankot is a major railroad junction. Lines from Amritsar (2 hrs) and Delhi (8 hrs) merge here and all services to Jammu (2 hrs) pass through. In addition to Pathankot station itself, there is a second station called Chakki Bank just 4 km away and serves some express trains that do not stop in Pathankot station. Nowadays the majority of the Jammu trains stop only at Chakki Bank and not at Pathankot.

In addition, Pathankot is also served by the narrow-gauge Kangra Valley Railway built by the British, which crawls 128 km to Joginder Nagar via Palampur and Kangra (near Dharamsala). However, the luxury Kangra Queen services were terminated back in 2003, leaving about 6 departures daily of slow, often packed second class trains, taking over six hours. Bookings for these can only be done locally at Pathankot station. Some of these trains run to Baijnath Paprola and a few to Joginder Nagar.

A View of Peer-Panjal Range from Mall Road @ Dalhousie

Manimahesh kailash, manimahesh, kailash, Dalhousie, Pir Panjal, Pandhi, Sach Pass, himalayas, Himachal Pradesh,Pir Panjal Range runs from South East to North West, running across the states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The peaks are covered in snow throughout the year and the range boasts of some high altitude passes including Rohtang La and Sach passes.,Pir Panjal range and the adjoining valley, Pangi, can be viewed from the mall road of Dalhousie. The Snow covered peaks along side the Ranjeet Singh Dam catchment area present a spectacular view. It seems surreal. The range seems so near, it is very hard to believe that it is about 174 kms away.

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught , is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything... : A Photograph by one of my friend who recently visited Dalhousie...

The good thing about Dalhousie is that the mall road is mostly empty of stalls and shops and is a great place to take a walk with your camera. There are rest benches at strategic locations from where you can see some spectacular views. If you are adventurous, you can also go on the terraces of the hotels to lean out into the valley and click that absolutely priceless shot. However, Mall road is best for day time shots and sunset is not visible clearly from there. For the sunset, the quiet road right behind my hotel was the best. All of the shots below are taken from that road. Dalousie, Sunset, Himachal Pradesh, himalayas, India, Hills
